When I decided to foster for the first time during quarantine, I did not anticipate the amount of positivity it would bring to my life. My first foster puppy was Iggy, and she was an 8 week old timid, but energetic dog. I had never taken care of a dog so young and fragile, so I was nervous to be responsible for it.

My first day of fostering was a day filled with fun and excitement. I could tell Iggy was nervous to be in a new environment, so I had to ensure her safety in my house. As the days went on, Iggy began to open up more and more, and started to become my best friend.
From teaching her new tricks, to bringing her everywhere I went, I grew such a strong bond with this 8 week old pitbull puppy. I spent my time playing with her and bringing her to new environments where she could meet new friends.
Watching her slowly grow into this friendly, outgoing puppy, who craved love and attention ensured me that this choice to foster was the right decision.
As my time with Iggy slowly began to come to an end, I knew that I couldn’t part ways with her just yet. It was clear that my life wouldn’t be the same without her, so I made the decision to fully adopt her. Now Iggy is 1 year and 4 months old, and I could never be happier with the decision I made. Although this was a foster fail, it gave me the opportunity to get to know Iggy, and prove that she was the dog for me and my family.
